Coat Type: Long, thick, double coat with a prominent mane-like ruff around the neck. Regular grooming is essential to maintain its beauty and prevent tangles.

Temperament: Affectionate, independent, and confident. The Pekingese is devoted to its family and often chooses one or two favorite people, but it can be a little reserved with strangers. It is not usually a busy or hyper dog, and it prefers a calm home where it can relax nearby and feel safe. Because it has a bold streak, gentle boundaries and respectful handling help it stay polite. This breed tends to do best with older kids who understand how to treat a small dog kindly.

History: The Pekingese has a noble origin dating back over 2,000 years in China. Bred to live in palaces and temples, these dogs were treasured by the Imperial family. According to legend, they were once considered sacred and could only be owned by Chinese royalty. Their dignified presence and loyal companionship continue to make them a cherished breed today.
